The contemporary circus is an art that is affirmed not only for its virtuosity, but also for a scenic choice of transdisciplinary crossings with other artistic aspects. An art where research is the starting point for creation. The CUPULA Circus Village Festival is the first circus village in Portugal with totally free programming. Located at the entrance of the beautiful walkways of Arcozelo, a seaside village in the north of Portugal, CUPULA installs in the territory a cultural and tourist route of international dimension, promoting transformative encounters in a continuous human sharing between local and national artists and populations, freely accessible to the entire population. The program is based on the presentation of tented circus shows and alternative stages, a pavilion prepared for circus training, a free campsite and some historical monuments of the village, where the main audience development activities will be held. All activities are free and aim to transform the village during the festival period, into a cultural and artistic center common to the varied offer of contemporary circus in its various aspects.
